‘Stop acting like it’s 2017’ – Draymond Green’s reaction to Klay Thompson’s Heat move has fans upset

Golden State WarriorsforwardDraymond Greenhas upset fans after his reaction to former teammateKlay Thompsonjoining theMiami Heat.

Green and Klay were two pillars of the Warriors dynasty on the foundation that Stephen Curry built, with the trio winning four NBA titles together.

Their brotherhood is well-known, which is why Draymond reacting to Klay joining the Heat by downplaying what his former teammate can provide has fans feeling some type of way.

Draymond Green downplays Klay Thompson to the Heat

On the latest episode of the Draymond Green show, the xx-year-old discussed his former teammate’s move to the Heat by reminding everyone that this isn’t the version of Klay we saw in 2017 and 2018.

“I don’t like how everybody is trying to act like ‘Oh, it’s Klay Thompson! Klay to the Heat!’ Like this is Klay from 2018. The reason I don’t like it is because I feel like everybody is trying to set Klay up for failure. I’m going to say it right here right now. Let’s stop acting like it’s 2017 Klay going to Miami.”

Green also said he wants people to compare Thompson’s move to when Ray Allen joined the Heat in the 2010s, a comparison that Thompson himself had already made in his introductory press conference.

With most media personalities and websites acknowledging Thompson will be a rotational contributor and Klay’s own words on embracing the Ray Allen role, Green’s aggressive downplaying of his former teammate’s current talents has caused some bad feelings.

Fans don’t understand why Draymond Green took this tone against Klay Thompson

“That’s literally the comp we’ve been saying this whole time. What is he talking about lmao,” said one confused fan.

“No one has said this. Heat fans are excited because he’s the perfect fit for what we need as a role player. Outside of Miami, (everyone) thinks he’s washed and making Shaq memes about him. I’m so confused where this came from lmao,” pondered another fan.

“Klay literally embraced the Ray Allen comp in his introductory media. Draymond be talking to hear his own voice lol,” said one fan.

“Bonkers way to talk about a former teammate,” said another stunned fan.

“It really be your own mans. Fake — dude. He should be shining Klay and Curry’s shoes for life, the way they carried him to all those rings,” said one particularly angry fan.

“The washed calling someone else washed?” wondered another fan, taking a shot at Green.

Thompson averaged 11.7 points on 38.3% shooting from outside on a tanking Mavericks team last season, and could have the makings of a crucial floor-spacing rotational option for the Heat this season.

Very few people are even claiming Klay can be a starter, let alone a star two-way player like he was in 2017, so Draymond’s comments very naturally stick out like a sore thumb.
